As if the many increases to award prices on United’s popular Saver award chart aren’t enough, United also made an even more broad based increase in the price of its ‘Standard’ awards. These higher priced awards are available for any seat on the plane for the holders of United credit cards and are useful for last minute travel or plans that need specific times.
Every Standard level award to/from the U.S. with the exception of the U.S. lower 48 region and Northern South America in First Class increases in price substantially effective February 1, 2o14.
If ‘Saver’ level award availability becomes tighter this means the overall increase in miles needed for United awards gets compounded once more.
