Le Club AccorHotels isn’t a super well-known loyalty program for many U.S.-based travelers, but considering that they own Fairmont and are working to merge the two programs together by mid-2018, you may be hearing a little bit more about them in the coming months.

What hotels can you book with Le Club AccorHotels points?

You can book any participating AccorHotels group brands with Le Club AccorHotels points including:

  • Sofitel
  • M Gallery
  • Pullman
  • Grand Mercure
  • The Sebel
  • Novotel
  • Mercure
  • Mama Shelter
  • Adagio Access
  • Ibis
  • Ibis Styles
  • Thalassa Sea & Spa

Note that some hotels/brands, such as Fairmont, will not allow you to earn or redeem AccorHotels points yet, even though they are owned by Accor. This is likely to change in the near future because Fairmont’s loyalty program is being folded into Accor’s in mid-2018.

How many points does a free night cost?

Unlike many other hotel programs, with Le Club, the cost of a reward night depends on the cost of a room. You can use 2,000 points for every €40 (about $48) spent, and settle the remainder with cash. This means that every award can be a cash-and-points award. Additionally, it means that you won’t have to worry about availability; as long as a hotel is selling nights for cash, you can use your points to cover some or all of the cost.

How much does an upgrade cost?

Since Le Club operates on a revenue based system, you can’t exactly book an upgrade after you’ve already paid for your room. Rather, when you make your hotel reservation, you should choose what room type you want. Suites and other luxury rooms are not excluded from the ability to redeem points at the same rate of 2,000 points=€40.

Good deal redemptions

Since redemptions are made at a fixed value, there’s no particularly good or bad hotel, room, or time to use your points. In general, we recommend redeeming your Le Club points as soon as your have enough (2,000 for €40). The value you can get for your points does not increase as you redeem more points; it is always 2,000 points=€40.

Can you turn Le Club AccorHotels points into airline miles?

Yes, with a minimum of 2,000 or 4,000 points depending on the airline, usually at a rate of 2:1. The airlines available for mileage transfers from Le Club are:

  • Aeroflot
  • AeroMexico
  • Air Canada
  • Air China
  • Air France/KLM
  • Alitalia
  • Avianca/TACA
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Delta Air Lines
  • Emirates
  • Etihad
  • Finnair
  • Iberia
  • Jet Airways
  • Korean Air
  • Lufthansa
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Singapore Airlines
  • TAP Portugal
  • Thai Airways
  • Turkish Airlines
  • Virgin Australia

What are Le Club AccorHotels points worth?

Le Club AccorHotels points are always worth the same amount due to the fixed-redemption nature of the points. A simple way to calculate the valuation would be from the redemption side, since points have a fixed value: 2,000 points = €40, which would be €0.02 per point.

Can you share points?

Points can be shared, but only in the form of a hotel voucher. Once you have earned 2,000 points, the €40 voucher that you redeem can be given to someone else to be used at any participating hotel.

How do you earn points?

The number of redeemable points you earn depends on which brand hotel you stay and what status level you have. For most brands, you’ll earn 25 Le Club points per €10 spent. These are the exceptions:

  • Ibis, Ibis Styles, Mama Shelter – 12.5 points per €10 spent
  • Adagio – 10 points per €10 spent
  • Adagio Access – 5 points per €10 spent

If you have status, you’ll earn bonus redeemable points according to the following:

  • Silver – 24% bonus
  • Gold – 48% bonus
  • Platinum – 76% bonus

What stays qualify to earn points?

All stays booked directly with Accor, or booked using a corporate contract rate will earn points. If you have paid for part of a stay with a voucher, you will still earn points for the stay based on your total invoice at time of checkout.

What is the cancellation policy?

Since the points are used to cover regular hotel rates, cancellation depends on the flexibility if the rate chosen – if you use your points to pay for a non-refundable rate, they become non-refundable. If you book a refundable rate, most hotels have a 24-hour cancellation policy, but this does differ by hotel and time of year so make sure you check your individual reservation cancellation policy.

Do Le Club AccorHotels points expire?

Le Club AccorHotels points will expire after 12 months without a status-qualifying activity. Status-qualifying activities include hotel stays, so you will need to stay at an AccorHotels property at least once a year to keep your points alive.

What cards earn Le Club AccorHotels points?
