Great West Coast to Europe Business Class award space on United

by on Fri June 9, 2017 • No Comment

Award space to Europe in Business Class has been hard to come by this summer, but if you still haven’t made plans, United has opened up some great award space from the West Coast to Europe in July and August on its San Francisco – Munich route.

Here’s space for at least 4 people per flight in Business Class…

It’s bookable for 57,500 United MileagePlus miles, or you can use any Star Alliance partner program like Aeroplan or Singapore KrisFlyer to book this space with no fuel surcharges.

There isn’t much space on the way back unless you want to return in late August, so this is a one way deal that lets you get some sleep on the way to Europe, but it’s rare to see such generous availability during the summer in any direction.

If you’re flying from the Midwest or East Coast, United’s Newark to Hamburg flight also has great summer availability. Here’s space for 4 or more people in Business Class.

Dulles to Frankfurt and Munich also have good space for 4 people, though there is some Lufthansa space for 70,000 miles mixed in.

Space on the way back is also sparse on these, but there are at least several partner options available for 70,000 United miles that will get you to the East Coast or Midwest.

If you’re looking for United’s new Polaris seat on these flights, don’t count on it.

The San Francisco – Munich flight is on United’s 787-8 Dreamliner that won’t be getting Polaris seats for some time to come, but is a refreshing ride for the 11 hour flight with standard lie flat seats in a 2x2x2 configuration.

The Newark – Hamburg flight is on a 767-300 with a 2x1x2 configuration, and there’s a very slight chance your flight on that route will have Polaris, with word that one 767 is in the process of getting Polaris installed for this summer.

And don’t expect much on the Polaris lounge front in either San Francisco or Newark for this summer. Instead, you’ll get United’s Polaris bedding on your seat and its updated meal service.

But for 57,500 miles one way and no fuel surcharges it’s still a great use of your miles.
