Lots of West Coast to Europe Biz Class award space with Star Alliance

by on Fri January 20, 2017 • No Comment

There’s lots of Business Class award space from the West Coast to Europe and beyond thanks to Turkish Airlines.

The route to watch is San Francisco to Istanbul, and while this month’s terrorist attack isn’t making it any more attractive to visit, the key here is to connect beyond Istanbul with Turkish, which makes this space a great starting point for tough to get awards beyond Istanbul.

Here’s space on the nonstop this summer SFO-IST…

There’s also lots of space from Houston…

And connecting onward to Athens in the summer is a breeze…something that’s usually next to impossible at Saver award prices…

So is getting to Tel Aviv.

Awards on Turkish don’t carry big fuel surcharges, so you can use any Star Alliance miles to take advantage and get a good deal.

ANA miles via Amex Membership Rewards will generally be the cheapest, at 88,000 miles roundtrip to Europe, but Aeroplan and Singapore KrisFlyer are also viable if you don’t have United MileagePlus miles.

Turkish Business Class is fully lie flat, though the layout is 2x2x2 so you’ll have a neighbor at your side, but the onboard service and lounge in Istanbul are all highly regarded, and a step above most carriers.
