10 nice IHG hotels that will cost more points in 2017 – book now

by on Wed December 28, 2016 • No Comment

IHG Rewards is changing the reward price of dozens of hotels starting January 15, 2017.

Most of them are going up, and you can see all the price changes here.

But here are 10 nice hotels in big travel destinations that are going up.

You’ll want to book them by January 14 to lock in the low prices and since IHG lets you make reservations up to 350 days in advance, you can book dates now through mid-December, 2017 at these prices, and right up to December 31 if you wait until January 14.

InterContinental Sydney (55,000 -> 60,000 points)

InterContinental Los Angeles Century City Los Angeles (50,000 -> 60,000 points)

InterContinental The Willard Washington D.C. (55,000 -> 60,000 points)

InterContinental Boston (55,000 -> 60,000 points)

Hotel Indigo Rome – St. George Rome (45,000 -> 50,000 points)

Crowne Plaza Auckland (25,000 -> 30,000 points)

Crowne Plaza Barcelona – Fira Center (30,000 -> 35,000 points)

Hotel Indigo Barcelona (35,000 -> 45,000 points)

Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach And Marina (35,000 -> 40,000 points)

Crowne Plaza Seattle – Downtown Seattle (35,000 -> 45,000 points)

The news isn’t all bad. Most hotels in places like India, where exchange rates are more favorable, are going down in price.

But in the U.S. there isn’t much to celebrate, unless you’re staying at some smaller hotels like the Candlewood Suites in Baton Rouge or Minot, North Dakota. And it’s a reminder to use your points as soon as you have plans. With hotel points like IHG Rewards there are no fees to change or cancel until very close to your reservation date, so it’s worth making some reservations ahead of the next price increase.
