Delta is on a tear lately adding partner airlines to its award booking engine on Delta.com.
China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, and Gol were all added in the last month.
And now Aerolineas Argentinas and Garuda Indonesia are available.
Aerolineas Argentinas offers great availability from the U.S. to Argentina via its Miami and New York JFK to Buenos Aires flights, and adding it combined with Gol fills out Delta’s online award search presence for South America destinations.
Here’s availability from New York to Buenos Aires in Business Class:
Garuda Indonesia doesn’t fly to the U.S., but it does get you throughout Southeast Asia via its hub in Jakarta, and even to Europe via its route to Amsterdam.
Here is Garuda’s international route map.
Award availability to Jakarta is very generous and this is also useful if you have Citi ThankYou points, which are transferable to Garuda Indonesia miles, since Delta.com is now the easiest place to check for Garuda Indonesia availability, though only for Coach and Business Class.
In addition to Aerolineas Argentinas and Indonesia Airlines, the roster of Delta partners available for award booking on Delta.com now includes Aeromexico, Air France, Alaska Airlines, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, GOL, Hawaiian Airlines, KLM, Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.
Key omissions remain Aeroflot, AirEuropa, Air Tahiti Nui, Czech Airlines, Kenya Airways, Middle East Airlines, Saudia Airlines, Tarom Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines.
Delta says many of those holes will be filled in the coming weeks and months, which is good news for SkyMiles members looking to take advantage of high value international rewards, though in our opinion something that should have happened several years ago.
