Amex Everyday Card Review: How to get Delta SkyMiles with no annual fee

Pros

The Amex Everyday card is a no annual fee rewards card with great flexibility for travel because it earns full value Amex Membership Rewards points you can convert into real airline miles with several airline programs.

Points transfer into Delta SkyMiles. Rather than paying an annual fee for a Delta SkyMiles credit card, you can use the Amex Everyday to earn points with no annual fee. And you can transfer those points into your Delta SkyMiles account anytime, because SkyMiles is a transfer partner of Amex Membership Rewards, along with over a dozen other airline programs.

Extra earning on groceries. You get 2x points at US supermarkets (on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1x). Even better, every statement cycle you use the card to make 20 or more purchases, you get a 20% bonus on the points you earn. So the card can earn 1.2x points on everything.

No annual fee. This is one of the few cards that can earn you real airline miles without an annual fee.

Cons

Not a great intro bonus. With no annual fee, and generous ongoing earning, it’s hard to find this card with a big introductory bonus offer.

Cash options aren’t great. If you don’t use your points for travel, you’ll find they don’t stretch as far as with other cards, so only get this if you plan to use the points for travel.

Foreign transaction fees. There’s no waiver of foreign transaction fees, so consider other cards for international purchases.
