Update – This offer has expired
If you are a member of the military, a defense contractor civilian, work on a military base, or are a family member or household member of one, you are eligible to apply for a lucrative bonus offer.
It’s 60,000 points after you spend $3,000 in 3 months on the Navy Federal Credit Union Visa Signature Flagship Rewards card.
The points are worth one cent each so this is worth $600 in travel credit.
It’s simple to use the card for travel. Just buy your ticket with the card, then afterward request statement credit with your points. No need to go to a special website to buy your ticket, so you can choose any airline or flight you want. This is just like using the Barclaycard Arrival or Capital One Venture Alec Baldwin advertises on TV.
You can use points to offset some or all of the cost of a ticket. So for example if you have a $300 ticket you can use 30,000 points to offset the entire cost, or use a smaller number of points to take off part of the cost. For example, 10,000 points can get you $100 off the price of your ticket.
There is no annual fee the first year and it’s $49 per year after that.
This is a limited time offer, and the timing with the furlough for non-essential employees is tough. But even if you’re not getting your paycheck now there are ways to get started on the $3,000 in spending needed to earn the bonus. Read this article to learn how.
Note some people have reported being able to walk into a Navy Federal branch and asking if there are organizations you can donate to and become a member without having a military family member or household member. Nothing has been officially documented but if you live near a branch it may be worth a visit to ask a supervisor.
