Check your email –  American Airlines is sending out a targeted offer for free AAdvantage Platinum status valid through November 30, 2013.

It also includes a challenge of 12,000 elite qualifying points or miles to renew the status for the 2014 elite year.

Plus, they are throwing in twenty 500 mile upgrade certificates just for signing up.

American sends these offers out from time to time, though most often offering lower level ‘Gold’ status – full discussion here at Flyertalk. But in case it ended up in your spam folder it’s a good idea to check the promo code and see if you were targeted.

Here are the terms and conditions we saw – nothing really restrictive. The status is active within 10 business days of registering.

(1) AAdvantage Platinum through November 30, 2013 Offer 
AAdvantage® Platinum status membership received through this offer is valid through November 30, 2013. Your AAdvantage Platinum status will be valid within 10 business days of registering for this promotion. Your new membership credentials will be mailed to you within four to six weeks after registration. You must re-qualify for AAdvantage elite status membership annually. Learn more about the standard qualification levels.

(2) AAdvantage Platinum through February 28, 2015 Offer
AAdvantage Platinum status membership received through this offer is valid through February 28, 2015. Upon reaching the required mileage or points threshold, your AAdvantage elite status membership benefits will be extended immediately. Your new membership credentials will be mailed to you within four to six weeks after qualification. Qualification for the extension of your elite status membership applies to base miles or points earned on eligible, purchased, published fare tickets on select airlines between July 30, 2013 and November 30, 2013. Select each airline name to learn more about qualifying fares for that carrier: American AirlinesAmerican EagleAmerican Connection® carriersBritish AirwaysIberiaJapan AirlinesQantas, and Finnair. (3) 500-Mile Upgrades Offer
