The United Explorer Card commercial actress and actor’s double life…

by on Sun April 14, 2013 • No Comment

A lot of things about United are blunt. The ads for their Explorer Card are among them. A bumbling husband who never has a plan treats his skeptical wife to priority check-in, free bags, a stop in the United Club on the way to a vacation. All thanks to the magical Explorer Card. A long way from the shopping fueled romance of this Chase Sapphire spot from a few years ago…

So who are the actor and actress?

The actress is Gillian Vigman. She’s a comedic actress with sketch comedy chops who you might recognize from Mad TV or one of her many other commercials.

The actor is Andrew Donnelly. He does a lot of standup / stage work – and you can read his Twitter feed here.

But there’s something else familiar about them…

Apparently they meshed well enough that you’ll find Vigman and Donnelly playing husband and wife on yet another commercial. For DirecTV. They have a nice house, big bathroom, same contempt for each other. Just no frequent flyer miles.

Though Ms. Vigman may have had enough with his antics. She’s found another man to travel with, in first class no less, in a commercial for Buick. He is prepared – on a cold winter night he turns on the heat to their Buick Enclave from the comfort of their first class seat while taxiing. The family stays warm. She is smitten.

Maybe Donnelly should have used those United miles for an upgrade…or at least kept the miles in the divorce.
