30,000+ Delta Bonus Miles with Credit Card Offers

by on Tue September 17, 2013 • 5 Comments

Delta SkyMilesWant to get started earning Delta SkyMiles® quickly? With the right Delta credit card offer you can earn thousands of bonus SkyMiles® and participate in many card benefits.

First, some tips on applying…

  • You can earn bonus SkyMiles® with American Express credit cards that aren’t from Delta. While most of us think of cards that say Delta Airlines on the front are the only ones for earning SkyMiles®, there are a few others from American Express that let you transfer the points you earn directly into your SkyMiles® account at any time. You can also earn introductory bonus miles from them even if you already have a Delta-branded card.
  • You must *not* have a current Delta SkyMiles® American Express to get the bonus from a new SkyMiles® credit card. Those are the rules. Same for a Gold, Platinum or Green American Express charge card for the bonus from another one of those. The exception is if you have the Personal version of a card, you can get the bonus for a Business version. And you can earn bonus points from a non-SkyMiles® credit card like the Starwood American Express that lets you transfer points into SkyMiles®.

Here are bonus offers that let you earn Delta SkyMiles:

1. 30,000 miles: Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express.

  • You earn the 30,000 miles after spending $1,000 within 3 months of holding the card. That’s enough for aDelta_ skymiles roundtrip domestic ticket at the ‘low’ 25,000 mileage level. It also gets you priority boarding and a free checked bag on every flight.
  • There is no annual fee the first year as an introductory offer, then $95 after…so you can cancel the card before 12 months are up and pay no annual fee if you’d like. You keep the SkyMiles®.

premierrewardsgold1702. 25,000 points: Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express.

  • This card earns Membership Rewards® points and these points can be transferred directly into your Delta SkyMiles® account (see how it works).
  • This card earns 25,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $2,000 within 3 months.
  • These points can be transferred directly into your Delta SkyMiles® account (see how it works).
  • It earns 2x points on gas and supermarket purchases, 3x on airfare, making it the most powerful card for earning Delta SkyMiles® via spending. For heavy spenders there is also a 15,000 point bonus when you spend $30,000 in a calendar year.

3. Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express

  • The Starwood card earns points that you can transfer directly into your SkyMiles® account at any time (see how it works).
  • Every 20,000 Starwood points earns you a 5,000 mile bonus, so your 25,000 points turns into 30,000 SkyMiles®. There is no annual fee the first year, $95 after.

If you have a small business, consider these cards as well. American Express considers business credit card accounts separately from personal accounts, so you can hold both the personal and business version of a card so you can keep personal and business expenses separate.

  1. Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card (link here). Same offer as above for the personal version of the card.
  2. The Business Gold Rewards Card® from American Express OPEN (link here). Miles transfer 1:1 into Delta accounts at any time.

There are sometimes more lucrative offers for these cards made widely available, and if they are, we’ll update this and post on our top deals page. But for now, this is a the fastest way we know to rack up Delta SkyMiles® quickly without flying.

Too bad the Delta card is gone from Card Match, that was a good offer for 45,000 miles. Am thinking of getting the Premier Rewards and SPG, but are there limits on how many cards Amex lets you hold of each kind?

    1. MileCards

@Jack- Amex lets you hold up to 4 ‘credit’ cards like the Delta ones and 4 ‘charge’ cards like the Platinum, Gold, and Green cards. But those guidelines are always subject to change and your individual application.

FYI I applied for both the Delta SkyMIles Gold and the Starwood card and was approved – so ended up with 50,000 Sky Miles after doing the transfer.
