Double miles on US Airways purchases. Earn 2 miles per dollar on all US Airways purchases.

Miles on all other spending. Earn 1 mile per dollar on all other purchases.

US Airways Club pass. Receive a one time visit pass, 6 to 8 weeks after your first purchase, and each year 6 to 8 weeks after you pay your annual fee.

$75 US Airways Club discount. Each year receive a certificate good for $75 off US Airways Club membership fees, 6 to 8 weeks after your first purchase the first year, and 6 to 8 weeks after you pay your annual fee in future years.

5,000 mile award discount. Book award flights on US Airways operated flights for 5,000 fewer miles than the listed award prices. For example, a roundtrip domestic ticket that shows as 25,000 miles on will cost you only 20,000 miles.

10,000 Preferred Miles bonus. When you spend $25,000 or more per calendar year on the card, get 10,000 miles toward Preferred status. Preferred status begins at 25,000 Preferred miles (usually earned by flying), and offers perks like baggage fee waivers and first class upgrade waitlist options.

Award Processing Fee waiver. When you spend $25,000 or more in a calendar year you will get a waiver of the US Airways Award Processing fees for one year. These fees are $25 per domestic award ticket, $35 per Mexico / Caribbean, and $50 per Hawaii / International ticket.

It is valid for roundtrip coach travel in the lower 48 United States and Canada. In order to receive the $99 companion price, you must purchase a ticket for yourself on the same flight for a minimum fare of $250. There is a 14 day advance purchase requirement and it is subject to blackout dates listed here. The certficate is sent each year about 6 to 8 weeks after your annual fee has been paid. You can’t book travel without the physical certificate in hand, as it has a code you will need. US Airways will also require you to mail the certificate in to confirm.

I purchased a one-way ticket for a friend, non relative, to travel with me to my home and take a road trip. She was told today by her doctor that she cannot travel, due to a heart procedure (coronary angiogram/blocked artery) that was performed this morning. Our trip is scheduled in a week. I used my US Airways Barclay World Premier MasterCard to purchase her ticket. May I get an refund if I provide documentation from her doctor’s decision for her not to travel? In addition, I have never received any companion fares with my card. Thank you.

I am traveling in October with my wife and her sister – the flight was paid for with my US Air Dividend Miles Master Card – I noticed that the card provides trip cancellation insurance if one of us gets sick and cannot travel –
I normally use Allianz Insurance for this purpose. Does the card provide the same benefit as Allianz?

I purchased a diamond engagement ring with my usair mastercard. Four months later the diamond fell out and was not found. Do I have any purchase protection since i paid with my mastercard?

@Dwight – Very sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately there isn’t ‘purchase protection’ coverage that we’re aware of with the Barclays US Airways MasterCard. There is extended warranty protection, but that only kicks in if your ring had a warranty associated with it. Also many diamond merchants (like Zales and Shane Company) offer free replacement of the diamond if it comes off of its setting. So you may want to check with the merchant first as there’s a good chance your situation is already covered.

I purchased two non-refundable tickets to aruba a couple of months ago for my wife and myself.
Since then, I sorry to say, my wife wants a trial separation and will Not be going to aruba as planned.
will my card help with a rebooking of our flights to a later date? I did charge the tickets to my credit card. I would like to use the tickets for both of us at a later date if we can work things out.
what can I do except sing the song “getting drunk on a plane”?
I need help in more ways than one.

@Robert – Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately they are pretty strict about those tickets. Basically the value you have remaining for a rebooking would be the fare you paid for your ticket less a $200 change fee. And the companion $99 fare would not have value since its change fee is more than $200.

So let’s say you paid $400 for your ticket.

Then if you decide to head somewhere on US Airways on your own (it doesn’t have to be Aruba) you have $200 to play with.

Or, you could hope that the schedule of your flight changes as the airline moves things around, which happens from time to time. If that happens, you may be able to make a case to rebook the whole thing free. There’s probably no advantage to canceling the tickets until right before the departure date to maximize your chances of that or some weather front moving in that lets them hand out free refunds.

Hi, I signed up for this card in flight. I thought that one of the perks for signing up at that time was that I could get 50K miles once I paid my annual fee and I think purchased one thing, I have since did both, If I am correct about the 50K miles, when will I see those reflected on my account?

@Toni – Give them a call using the number on the back of your card – they can look it up and see when it should post. Usually it’s within a few weeks.

i have a world elite card,my husband is the secondary card holder , we bought 4 tickets, how many
bags can we bring without paying a fee

  7. Vic

Can the “first checked bag free on eligible bags….flights” be used on American Airlines flights?
If so, does it apply to international as well as domestic flights

@Vic- Not yet on American Airlines flights. That will happen sometime next year. As for international vs domestic, for now only domestic US Airways flights qualify.

  8. bob

what does your trip cancellation insurance cover and not cover for my trips purchased by my card? Where do I get a copy of this guide that explains the terms?

  9. Wendell Butcher

My premier world MasterCard was changed to a world elite dividend miles MasterCard. Are there any additional benefits/ or are the same? Will my wife receive first bag free as an authorize user on my account when traveling alone? If not can see be added as joint and both receive benefit if traveling by ourselves?

  10. Andy

Do I have to purchase my ticket with the US airways MasterCard to get zone 2 boarding on the flight. I have never seen that in any materials but was told that when I tried to board a flight tonight (first time in the many years that I’ve had the card.

@William – You can call the number on the back of your card to start the process, and see whether cracked windshields are covered. Generally the coverage is for damage from a collision, rather than other hazards.

  11. Fan

Does second card holder has same benefit as primary card holder. For example one companion certificate good for 2 guests travel

    1. MileCards

@Fan – No you only get one companion certificate total. But the one certificate you do get lets you bring 2 companions along (so 3 of you total on the trip).

    1. MileCards

@Chris – No problems using the CDW in the UK. Give them a call at the number on the back of your card if you have questions, but nothing unusual for that destination.

    1. MileCards

@Philip – There is baggage delay insurance, though not coverage for lost luggage. So they will reimburse you up to $100 per day for up to 3 days for ‘essential items’ that you need to replace because the luggage is delayed.

Your airline though has to reimburse you for lost baggage up to $3,300 for domestic flights, and about $1,700 for international flights. It’s required by the government. That’s regardless of what credit card you use. This article has good info on how to get reimbursed

  12. Lee

Did they remove the 10k anniversary bonus? There’s no mention of it on the application pages linked from your website.

    1. MileCards

@Lee – Good question, odd that it’s not on the link. It shows up in the version for Chairman’s Preferred members though. Will remove it until we clarify. The Chairman’s Preferred link is here…people have had luck getting approved for it without being a Chairman’s Preferred though they have become more explicit in the language of the application page that it is exclusively for Chairman’s members.
