About

MileCards.com was created by a frequent flyer who flies over 100,000 miles per year and enjoys premium travel on the cheap, but was frustrated at the lack of reliable places to point friends and family when they wanted to choose a mile credit card.

This site is geared toward frequent spenders who may not be frequent flyers. We focus on easy to digest advice that helps you avoid the biggest mistakes in mile earning and redeeming, while offering you the chance to earn a great value from your mile credit card spending.

We believe you deserve better than a 1% return from your credit card spending.

Our credit card reviews are written with a critical eye to both the earning power of the card and more often overlooked, the ease of being able to use those miles for good value. We know you’re not interested in the geekdom of booking codes or may not care about an extravagant journey in an international carrier’s first class cabin. You want to know how to earn points that can save you good money on your next vacation. We’re here to help.

If you have specific questions, use the question boxes on every page to email us. Or, type a question in the comments area at the bottom of the page, and we’ll chime in to help.

We are looking into flying to Europe out of Denver or Colorado Springs, CO this fall, 2012. What card would be the best for us to rack up miles for 2 tickets.

@Peggy – I would start with the Chase Sapphire Preferred and its 50,000 point bonus. The points can be transferred 1:1 into United miles, and those are the ones that will give you the most flexibility to get to Europe. Tickets are 60,000 miles each. The requirement to earn the bonus is $3,000 in spending on the card within 3 months. Depending on how much spending you do, would recommend your husband also applies for the card separately to try and earn the bonus as well. Just make sure you do it in a period where you know you’ll be able to get that minimum spending in.
