When looking to make a points redemption, it is important to make sure you are getting as much value for your points as you can. Of course, that might mean different things for different people depending on your goals.

Here, we’ve found our favorite Marriott Rewards redemptions in the Caribbean first based on overall value and style, for families, luxury, beaches, or for the fewest points.

For research purposes, we checked the same dates at all properties to determine approximate value per point. We looked at a couple weekday low season dates as well as a few weekend high season rates to try to get a good value range.

Keep in mind that values could be quite different depending on the exact dates you are looking to travel. Make sure you take a look at all of the options available at the location or locations you are looking to travel and consider your travel goals before booking!

We value Marriott points at about 0.7 cents each, so that’s a good baseline for a decent deal. Anything above 1 cent is a great deal (like a $350 hotel for 35,000 points), and getting 2 cents per point in value is a rare, outstanding deal.

Here are our picks for the best value Marriott properties in the Caribbean:

Best for Luxury

Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, and Autograph Collection properties were considered in the Luxury category.

The Ritz-Carlton St Thomas – 60,000 – 70,000 points

St. Thomas is a gorgeous island in the U.S. Virgin Islands that is very well known for it’s shopping. And you can’t go wrong by staying at the Ritz while you’re there. Point values were found to range from 0.68 to 1.12 cents per point for this property between low and high seasons. The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas costs between 60,000 and 70,000 Marriott points per night to book.

The Ritz-Carlton Aruba – 50,000 – 60,000 points

Value for the Ritz-Carlton Aruba ranged from 0.57 to 1.63 cents per point. If staying at the Ritz in Aruba is a goal of yours, the upper end of that value spectrum is pretty good! The cost to book is between 50,000 and 60,000 points per night.

Best for Budget

Hotels that could be booked for 20,000 points per night or less were considered for the Budget category.

Courtyard Kingston Jamaica – 20,000 points

If you want to stay in a hotel on a budget, it usually means not staying in the most ideal location or compromising comfort. The Courtyard in Kingston Jamaica is a wonderful price and value and you’re only compromising a little bit on location but the hotel is still beautiful, even with a rooftop pool. Value is crazy high, between 1.28 and 2.15 cents per point for the nights we checked and the hotel only costs 7,500 to 10,000 Marriott points per night to book.

Courtyard Aguadilla – 7,500 – 10,000 points

A second great option in the budget category is the Courtyard Aguadilla. Most people stay in or near San Juan when visiting Puerto Rico, so staying here likely means you will be traveling a little bit further from the airport, but it’s worth it if you are trying to stretch your Marriott points. Redemptions here cost between 7,500 and 10,000 points per night and had a value between 1.37 and 1.46 cents per point on the dates we checked

Best for Families

Courtyard Aguadilla – 7,500 – 10,000 points

The Courtyard Aguadilla is a repeat from our budget category, and the only hotel to have the best value in two different categories on this list. It’s a little bit off the beaten path considering that most people stay in or near San Juan when traveling to Puerto Rico, but if you are traveling with kids you just can’t beat the water park that is in the pool area… and even moreso not for the price! The Courtyard Aguadilla costs between 7,500 and 10,000 Marriott points per night and was found to have a value between 1.37 and 1.46 cents per point over the dates we checked.

The Atlantis Collection of Hotels – 35,000 – 45,000 points

It’s a bit more difficult to determine value for the Atlantis hotels for a couple of reasons. First, rates cannot be checked online and second, there are a lot of different hotels to choose from that are all part of Atlantis. You have The Cove Atlantis (40,000 to 45,000 points per night), Atlantis Royal Towers (35,000 to 40,000 points per night), Atlantis Beach Tower (30,000 to 35,000 points per night), and Atlantis Coral Towers (30,000 to 35,000 points per night). Atlantis is basically a kid’s dream vacation, so it definitely makes the list for the family category even though the value is slightly lower than the Aguadilla property at 0.67 – 1.03 cents per point on the dates we checked.

Best for Beaches

Renaissance St Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa – 25,000 – 35,000 points

The Renaissance St Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa showed pretty consistent value around one cent per point, which is pretty decent for hotel points. It’s a gorgeous property with a lot of white sandy beach line. Definitely a solid choice if you are looking to spend your vacation relaxing with a book and a drink in your hand while soaking up some rays. The Renaissance St Croix can be booked for 25,000 to 35,000 Marriott points per night with values between 0.8 and 0.95 cents per point.

Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club – 40,000 – 45,000 points

Marriott’s Aruba Ocean Club is a gorgeous property located right on a white sandy beach and the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. It costs a few more points to book than many hotels on this list, running 40,000 to 45,000 Marriott points per night, but values were also on the high side at 0.9-1.19 cents per point on the dates we checked. It’s definitely a property worth considering if you have the Marriott points to spare and want to be on the ocean.

These are just a start – it’s always worth spending time to research off the beaten path hotels, and for more read our guide to getting the most out of your Marriott points.
