The Citi Prestige Card recently switched to a new concierge provider, and while hold times on the phone can be frustratingly long, one of the new benefits is the ability to initiate concierge requests online.
You can do that by logging into the new Citi Prestige Concierge site at Citi.com/concierge, where you can handle things like requesting restaurant reservations and concert tickets, or more likely, doing research on 4th Night Free hotel requests without having to call and dig out your full account number.
Once you login you’ll find a widget to send a request directly to a concierge.
The form lets you specify the request type and write out your questions. Just note it won’t let you include links for example to the site of a hotel you’re booking, and flags that as a ‘security risk,’ which is a little annoying.
Once you’ve submitted your request you’ll get an email confirming it, along with a time estimate for a response (about four hours).
And shortly after you’ll get a response from the concierge, via an email that’s tagged to your Citi Prestige account.
We tested the concierge with an obscure hotel that’s not typically in hotel reservation systems, and got an affirmative response that it’s eligible for the 4th Night Free promotion.
In an ideal world, you would never have to wait on hold to reach a concierge on the phone when you’re paying a $450 a year for a card, and you’d be able to instantly search and book hotels eligible for the 4th Free Night promotion on the Citi website.
But with hold times what they are, this email request feature is useful to reasonably quickly verify whether a hotel is eligible for the 4th Night Free promotion and get the booking process rolling.
The new site also lists all the special dining perks you’ll receive if you book through the Citi Concierge, like free dessert drinks and priority waitlists as some restaurants, as well as some more obscure perks like discounts when you buy wine online (which don’t really appear to be discounts to the public price at all).
