Or, consider other cards for 50,000 or more miles or points that transfer into United miles with additional flexibility for your everyday spending.

The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express typically has a pretty bland introductory offer for 30,000 miles.
Often though, American Express will target people for offers of 50,000 or 60,000 miles.
But it’s been several months since the general public has been able to access a non targeted version of the 50,000 mile offer, though the targeted version has been pretty broadly available with a minimum spend requirement of $1,000 in the first 3 months.
There’s now a live application available online without targeting or logins for 50,000 miles after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. While this deal has a higher spend requirement than the one that’s targeted to many, it’s a more foolproof way to reach the deal.
You also get a $50 statement credit when you make any Delta purchase within the first 3 months. And it doesn’t have to be a plane ticket – it can be any charge made directly to Delta Air Lines.
It’s being promoted in airports via brochures near gate areas and on board Delta flights when you login to the GoGo wifi , but it’s easy to see the offer on the ground via DeltaLTO.com.
Here are the links:
The deal is good until November 17, 2015 and is one of the better deals typically offered for this card.
Sometimes you might find a 60,000 mile deal targeted to you (you can check here via the Amex pre-qualification site or at DeltaAmexCard.com), but once you hit the 50,000 threshold you should stop and think.
The card also offers:
Unfortunately this deal is limited to the Gold Delta SkyMiles card, and there is no deal on the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card or the Delta Reserve Card.
Earlier this year the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Card offered 60,000 Delta SkyMiles plus 10,000 MQMs (Medallion Qualification Miles) when you spend $2,000 on the card within the first 3 months, plus a $100 statement credit after a Delta purchase in the first 3 months.
The current offer is for just 35,000 miles and 5,000 MQMs.
So we’d hold off until a better deal emerges for that card.
But it’s a great time to consider the Gold Delta SkyMiles card.
