Like cruises, all inclusive resorts can be polarizing. You either love the set it and forget it way of worry free vacationing, or you think you’ll be trapped in a nightmare of mediocre buffets.

The reality is somewhere in the middle. And all inclusive resorts can be a great way to stretch your vacation dollar. Even better, you can take one without spending any cash at all, thanks to several resorts you can book entirely with points.

We’ve compiled a list by program, including the number of points you need, the typical cost in cash, and Tripadvisor rating for each resort.

Hyatt is the winner if you want to pay a relatively low number of points, and stay in high quality resorts with good locations, thanks to its new Ziva and Zilara resorts for 20,000 – 25,000 points a night. Starwood, usually a good deal for upscale properties, isn’t as much of a bargain, and only has two resorts to choose from, in Panama and Costa Rica.

IHG has some reasonable values for high rated properties like the Intercontinental in Cozumel, as well as some family friendly Holiday Inn options, while Hilton has the highest prices in points overall, unless you trek to Egypt or Turkey for more reasonable rates.

Are there any all-inclusive stateside that can be booked with points? I’m trying to avoid the international taxes and fees.

@Drew – Unfortunately no – the big loyalty programs don’t have any U.S. properties that are all-inclusive. Club Med does, but not affiliated with the other chains.

LOVE this site. I’ve been looking for the right credit card to book all inclusive resorts. This is a tremendous help. I hope the site is updated with any revisions!! If so, I will bookmark it and visit frequently. Thanks

Is the “points per night” an all inclusive package for one or would that rate include all occupants of the room? Just curious as some of the all-inclusives charge a per person rate vs strictly per night.

Presidente InterContinental Cozumel – this does not show as an all-inclusive online so I asked IHG via online chat and was told this is NOT an all inclusive. It must have changed.

@jeremy – You’re correct, thanks for the heads up – they converted it back from an all inclusive – it’s updated above.
