Unlimited 3% rewards through 12/31 with this credit card

PremierCashCardimageMost rewards above 2% come with some sort of cap or category limitation, so when we saw that Tobyhanna Credit Union is offering unlimited 3% rewards through December 31 with its no fee Visa Premier Cash Card we were intrigued.

  • There is no cap on earning.
  • There are no category restrictions.
  • It’s open to both new and existing cardholders.

Just pure 3% rewards on everything you can purchase with the card until December 31st.

Tobyhanna is a credit union based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but anyone from around the country can join Tobyhanna Credit Union online.

  • First, join the American Consumer Council, which is free of charge when you enter the promo code ‘consumer’
  • Second, join the credit union by depositing $5 into a no-fee checking or savings account.

You can also apply for the credit card directly without being a member first.

They’ll notify you of your application status and if approved you can go through the membership process to get your card processed and sent to you.

There is one big catch though.

In the fine print Tobyhanna says it may file 1099 forms with the IRS to count the cash rewards as taxable income.

Unfortunately there is no travel or merchandise reward option, it’s all straight cash, so depending on your tax situation this could eat into your upside.

The Citi Double Cash Card earns 1% on purchases and another 1% when you pay your bill, and for now with no 1099 forms.
